| What
is Social Accountability SA 8000? |
The
new standard has been developed
under the auspices of the USA's
Council on Economic Priorities Accreditation
Agency (CEPAA). It is the first
'auditable' international standard
to cover working practices and is
based on Conventions of the International
Labour Organization, the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and
the UN Convention on the Rights
of the Child.
How
to get certification
?
Certification
to the SA 8000 Standard involves
the development and auditing of
management systems which promote
socially acceptable working practices
in areas including child labour,
forced labour, wage levels, health
and safety, working hours, freedom
of association and collective bargaining,
discrimination and disciplinary
practices. It is expected to be
of wide ranging interest to companies
who wish to demonstrate and independently
verify a responsible attitude to
working conditions.
|

| Why
to get SA 8000 certification |
 |
The
issue of 'ethical sourcing' is very
topical and initiatives in this area

consumers that they are committed to
social accountability. |
 |
It
provide companies with strategic advantages
in today's competitive trading climate. |
 |
SA8000
is no exception - it will help companies
who meet its criteria measure and manage
issues surrounding the products they
sell; improve product quality and labour
conditions. |
| |
| Benefits
of implementing and registering to SA
8000 |
 |
improving
or maintaining company's image; increasing
employee moral and productivity; |
 |
Improved
community relations; meet customers
requirements or expectations; |
